omschrijvingLloyds Patriotic Fund £100 Presentation Sword owned by Vice-Admiral Thomas Dundas. Dundas became a Lieutenant on 15 July 1793; a Commander on 2 September 1795; a Captain on 9 July 1798; a Captain of the ‘Niaid’ at Trafalgar in 1805; a Rear-Admiral in 1825 and a Vice-Admiral in 1837. He was created KCB in 1831 and died in 1841. An inscription on the obverse of the blade reads: 'FROM THE PATRIOTIC FUND AT LLOYDS TO THOMAS DUNDAS ESQR CAPTN OF H.M.S. NAIAD FOR HIS MERITORIOUS SERVICES IN CONTRIBUTING TO THE SIGNAL VICTORY OBTAINED OVER THE COMBINED/ FLEETS OF FRANCE AND SPAIN OFF CAPE TRAFALGAR- ON THE 21ST OF OCTOBER 1805'.
