omschrijving | Presentation small-sword which belonged to Rear-Admiral John Macbride (d.1800). The shell is inscribed: 'Presented to Rear Admiral John Macbride for his active and vigilant exertions in defence of the commerce of Great Britain- By the subscribers for encouraging the capture of French privateers- London 18 April 1793'. The blade is inscribed with 'Vive Le Roy'.
The sword is significant as the first known recorded piece by the sword maker Richard Teed (1757-1816) who was later appointed sword maker to the Lloyd Patriotic Fund.
