omschrijvingSword-stick. Owned by Captain A.J. Enstone- Royal Naval Air Service (active 1914-1918). The hilt is plaited leather. There is a flattened diamond blade- with a square shoulder- tapering towards the tip- with etched decoration for two-thirds of its length. The obverse is inscribed with floral strapwork- a plain central panel with the initials 'A.J.E'- floral strapwork. The reverse is inscribed with floral strapwork- a plain panel marked 'WILKINSON PALL MALL'- floral strapwork- a panel with crown above- eagle wings outstetched- floral strapwork. The cane scabbard has a brass ferrule and tapers slightly. There is a square section hole cut in the centre of it to fit a blade cane and there are slots into base of hilt to provide snug fit. Purchased with collection of manuscripts- medals and uniform items.
