omschrijvingAustrian sword- the hilt of the sword consists of pierced gilt half-basket guard. The guard is embossed with the Imperial double eagle and two mermaids supporting an anchor by its flukes. The guard ends in an eagle's head. The white fish-skin grip is bound with three gilt wires. A gilt bar (25mm by 3mm) projects from the front of the grip- close inside the guard. The pommel of the sword is embossed with leaves- whilst the back-piece is embossed with a depiction of Neptune's head and a trident. The slightly curved- round (pipe) backed steel blade- has a double-edged spear point. The blade's round (pipe) backed is exactly like the British pattern of 1827-1847. The obverse of the blade is engraved with an Imperial crown over a foul anchor. The reverse of the blade is engraved with a depiction of a double-headed eagle surmounted by a crown.
