| omschrijving | Stirrup hilted dress sword- the hilt of the sword consists of a gilt stirrup guard. The sword has a rounded pommel and back-piece- with a flute round the pommel and down the back-piece. A foul anchor motif is engraved on the langets. The black fish-skin grip is bound with three gilt wires. The straight- apparently flat-backed steel blade has one shallow groove and has rusted into the scabbard. The black leather scabbard originally has two gilt lockets and rings and a stud for frog suspension on the obverse of the top locket. The ring of the mid locket is now missing- as is the chape. The reverse of the top locket bears the words 'Stephens Opposite the Crown Portsmouth'.
