omschrijvingMusket. The stock is possibly made of walnut. Fitted with brass fore-end cap- brass butt plate- brass trigger guard and iron ramrod within brass ramrod pipe. Iron sling loops are attached to the barrel and trigger guard. A spring hook projects from the fore-end to secure a bayonet. The lock is a sidelock percussion. Half and full cock positions. The barrel is of circular external section. Fitted with leaf rearsight graduated every 100 yards to 1000 yards and a barleycorn foresight. The calibre is 0.758in. Inscribed on the lockplate is a crown over 'VR 1855 TOWER'. Inscribed on the butt is '8' over '53-' an arrow over 'BO' (Board of Ordnance) and 'MA 1372' (Museum of Artillery). Above the trigger guard is the number '63'. On the left side of lock is what appears to be the number '105' and the name 'W FARQUAR'.
