omschrijving | Cannon barrel boxlock pistol. The stock is made of walnut and is slab sided with a round butt. The pistol has a steel trigger with a backward curl and a broad steel trigger guard. There is also a percussion boxlock whilst the cannon barrel is smoothbore and is made to unscrew by means of a rectangular lug underneath. The calibre is 0.38in. The pistol is inscribed on the lock with the words 'PARKHOUSE TAUNTON'- and the barrel bears Birmingham proof marks post 1813. Together with the pistol there is a box of primers marked with the words '100 PREMIUM PRIMERS SUITABLE FOR CENTRAL FIRE CARTRIDGES'. There is an undocumented attribution of the pistol to Admiral Thomas Masterman Hardy.
