omschrijvingA sketch of the sea made while the artist was staying at Corbiere, Jersey. He went there from 13 January to 6 February, 1928, to paint and sketch the sea. In this seascape the artist has concentrated on the rhythmic sequencing of the waves using hatched patterning to depict their movement. The tonal variations mean that the sky and sea both contrast and complement each other, through the source of brilliant light coming from the left of the sky. The painting is inscribed 'Jersey' verso.
