Tellinga, zitten in maart 1944 tijdens hun vrije tijd in waarschijnlijk een café of kantine. Ze zijn gelegerd in San Diego tijdens hun opleiding aldaar. Korporaal Tellinga draagt op zijn schouder een naamlint met de aanduiding "commando", ten teken dat hij de Britse commando-opleiding voltooid heeft.

Mike Beckett | 2024-03-19 | 10:28:38Dear Sir or Madam I am writing a book on Commando insignia of World War Two - I have written and published the first volume of my work through the Royal Marines Historical Society (Special Publication 54 - 'THE COMMANDO COMPENDIUM. All proceeds go to charity through the Royal Marines Historical Society. My second volume concentrates on insignia of related units of Commando Group in World War Two. It therefore features 2 (Dutch) Troop on No.10 (Inter-Allied) Commando. The image of Corporal Tellinga (Your reference Inventory Number 62280) is of interest to me as it illustrates 'COMMANDO' title being worn by a Korps Mariner - may I have your permission to use the image with full acknowledgement to yourselves please Any reply appreciated - I can provide firther details on request Thank you Mike Beckett
