On the 9th October 1942 when on route from Alexandria & Durban for Trinidad & New York she was torpedoed by U-201 and sunk by gunfire. On 11th December 1940, while on route from Sorel for London carrying 7778 tons grain and 48 lorries, TOWA was torpedoed and sunk with gunfire by U-96.
