Explanation Collection Search System

• Museum
Here you may indicate in what collection(s) you want to search. It is the standard procedure for the system to make a search for an answer to your question(s) in the collections of the Maritime Museum Rotterdam, the Netherlands Maritime Museum Amsterdam, the Marine Museum Den Helder, the Baggermuseum Sliedrecht, the Nationaal Reddingmuseum 'Dorus Rijkers', the Visserijmuseum Vlaardingen and the Frisian Maritime Museum Sneek. If you want to search in the collection of one of these museums only, you have to indicate so.
• Search scope
Under this heading you may indicate in what fields the system has to search for an answer to your question. Automatically, all available fields will be searched. If you want the system to do a search in one distinct field only, you may put down the name of that field under the heading 'specific field'.
• Sort sequence
Only as far as literature is concerned you may ask the system to present the results of the search sorted out as per the name of the author or the title.
• Search key
Under this heading you have to name one or more words upon which you want the system to do a search. N.B. The system does not make a distinction between small letters and capitals. Using the terms 'Piet Heyn' or 'piet heyn' will have the same result.
